A manchega woman who never retires

If someone had told Lola Santos years ago that her portrait would one day become the face of a pistachio brand, she would probably have laughed in disbelief. That's exactly what happened when she discovered the surprise her children had prepared for her.

Lola, our mother, is a woman from La Mancha who never retires. She was born in Villacañas in 1947, the town she has no intention of leaving except for trips to her apartment in Benidorm or to Fisterra whenever she can. And always with her husband, José Torres, and to hell with it.

Matriarch. Humble. Simple.
Discreet. Observant. Courageous.

A woman from a small town, yet modern. She always looks ahead while enjoying the present at her own pace. (Or, as people would call it today, practising mindfulness.) Very much a woman of her town, yet during the local fair she'd rather enjoy the peace and warmth of her home, filling it with family. Especially when all her grandchildren turn up unannounced. LaLola welcomes every one of them and, when they leave, repeats her favourite saying: "Take as much peace with you as the rest you leave behind."

Her influence reaches every corner of our family. The signature burger on her children's restaurant menu bears her name, as do the rural apartments where visitors to Villacañas stay. Places filled with warmth and life because of her, and recommended by everyone who visits.

Grandmother, woman and mother

To four children—Loli, José Ángel, Pilar and Carlos—to a growing family of grandchildren, and to several projects that all carry her hallmark:
simplicity, kindness, and dedication, the values that have defined her throughout her life.
